Our Story

About
Snyder Ranch

We're Phil and Cody Snyder—husband and wife, ranch partners, and lifelong animal lovers.

What began with two Highland cows has grown into a family ranch built on hard work, responsible breeding, and a genuine love for these incredible animals.

Today, we're proud to call the Missouri Ozarks home, where we continue raising true Miniature Highland cattle and welcoming families from near and far to experience the herd for themselves.

From Two Cows in California to Our Home in the Ozarks

Like many great stories, ours started with something small.

In 2012, we purchased two Highland cows to help naturally manage our property for fire prevention in California. We were drawn to the breed because of their unique appearance, gentle personalities, and undeniable charm.

Before long, those first two cows became four, then more, and what started as a practical decision quickly became a passion.

As our knowledge and love for the breed grew, so did our breeding program. Through careful planning, responsible genetics, and years of learning, Snyder Ranch slowly became what it is today.

When life led us to the beautiful Missouri Ozarks, our Highlands came with us.

Today, we're grateful to continue this journey on our ranch near Mountain View, where every calf is raised with intention, every breeding decision is made thoughtfully, and every visitor is welcomed like a friend.

We're so glad you're here.

Our Journey

Phil & Cody Snyder

Although we each bring different strengths to Snyder Ranch, we share the same goal—to raise healthy, well-loved Miniature Highlands and help them find wonderful homes.

The Rancher

Phil is the steady hand behind much of the day-to-day work at Snyder Ranch.

He's passionate about responsible breeding, thoughtful planning, and caring for the herd the right way. From pasture management to genetics, Phil enjoys continually learning and improving so every generation is even better than the last.

His favorite part of ranch life is watching healthy calves grow into confident, beautiful Highlands that families will enjoy for years to come.

The Heart of the Ranch

If you've ever visited Snyder Ranch, chances are you've met Cody with flowers in one hand and a smile on her face.

She brings fun, creativity, and hospitality to everything she does—from caring for the Highlands to tending her flower gardens.

Cody loves helping visitors feel at home, answering questions, and introducing families to each animal's unique personality.

She'll probably know every cow by name ... and she'll probably remember yours too.
